I always feel so accomplished when I can actually do a hair style that I find on Pinterest. With it being so hot this past week, I wanted my hair up but was getting tired of my go-to messy top bun. This style was SO easy and I was able to do it in 3 minutes. I recommend doing this hairstyle with day-old hair and some dry shampoo. All you need are 3 small hair ties, a few bobby pins, and some hairspray (optional). I have a feeling I’ll be rocking this hairstyle all summer long!
One of the main reasons I’ve wanted to start a blog, is because I love to share information. When I come across something good, I just have to tell someone about it. After searching high and low for coffee straws that were actually safe for you to drink hot liquid out of (heat and plastic don’t really make a safe/healthy combo), I stumbled across these! Some people don’t get it, but I have to drink my coffee, hot or iced, out of a straw. Coffee, like wine, tea, and many other foods and drinks, can be rough on your teeth – and I like to keep mine healthy and white.
Happy Monday, y’all.
Before we moved to Tennessee and just before Mother’s Day, Navy and I had some ‘Mommy and Me’ photos taken on the beautiful grounds of Eden Gardens State Park. We recently got them back and loved them so much that we just had to share few! I’d love to be able to do this every year and have a sort of time lapse album. Photography is by Tay Gray Photography. If you are ever in the Pensacola/Destin area, you should check her out! She’s sweet, professional, and will make sure you get great photos. This gal knows what she’s doing!
How are we already half way through the year?! I know it’s the 10th of June and this is probably old news to most of you but I’m still having trouble getting over that fact. I mean, I have to start Christmas shopping soon! Anyway — in honor of it being a new month, here are five of my favorite items from last month:
When we moved to Tennessee, we didn’t have much time to look for somewhere to live. We had 3 days. So, to be safe, we decided to rent until we figured out the area. We aren’t new to renting, so I know a little about having to make someone else’s house my home without having to fix or undo too much when we leave.
Now that Navy is 3, I’ve wanted to work on her room and make it a fun place that she can go to and enjoy. I wanted color in her room – without having to paint. I gave up on trying to find a painting or wall décor – everything I had in mind ended up being too expensive, too hard to make with a 3 year old running around, or not exactly what I was looking for. As I was perusing the isles of T.J. Maxx, that’s when it hit me! WRAPPING PAPER – in a large frame! There sat this gorgeous floral wrapping paper that was once a stupid amount of money for just wrapping paper, now just $2.99! And I already had the perfect frame for it at home!
Items you need for this super easy DIY:
- Wrapping paper of your choice (note: other great options for this are wallpaper or fabric)
- A large/extra large frame
- Scissors to cut paper
- Tape to keep paper in place
- Tools needed to hang frame
After my recent Instagram post getting such great feedback, I figured today’s Five on Friday could be a list of five of my favorite Mommy + Me twinning outfits from Navy and I. We LOVE to match or ‘go-together’. I’m thinking of starting a series of matching outfits on the blog — I’ll list out what we are wearing and link what it can or something similar. What do y’all think?!
I’m pretty sure I’ve found the perfect summer date night maxi thanks to TOBI. It’s sexy, with a strappy back (adjustable too!) and low-cut plunging front, but still covers just enough. And, if your more of a ‘busty’ gal, no worries, this dress covers you! I usually have a lot of trouble with dresses cut like this (smalls are cut too small up top, and anything larger is just too big in the waist and way too long), so typically stay away from them. You can dress it up with a strappy heel or down with a sandal. I paired mine with a sandal due to the length on me (I’d rather have my maxis a tad too long than too short with a heel), an over-sized floppy hat, and gold accessories.
This dress will definitely be in my suitcase for our upcoming trip back home. I can’t wait to be at the beach and have a much needed date night with the hubby!
Another spring and summer favorite – two piece playsuits! I wore this beauty, courtesy of TOBI, out to run errands and take Navy to the park. It’s a flowy halter top and high-waisted short set. So comfy and easy to wear! I love the pattern too. I’m all about some floral right now.
I kept the jewelry minimal and since I’m still digging turquoise jewelry, I thought the necklace was perfect to give this black and white outfit a pop of color.
Oh hey! I’m back in the blogging game!
We have finally settled in Tennessee and I’ve got my desk/work area all set up. Still working on figuring out how to blog with a 3 year old at my ankles every second (especially with nap time out the window now), but I think I’ve got it figured out. I can’t wait to get started on a few projects! In the meantime, here’s my latest Five on Friday to show what we’ve been up to lately:
Before we moved to Tennessee, Navy and I had a mini ‘Mommy and Me’ photo session. I absolutely LOVE the sneak peaks – I can wait to see and share with you the rest of the pictures. The dress I’m wearing is from ModCloth and Navy’s is from Target.
I love a good romper! They’re just so easy to wear – throw on and go! I wore this one, courtesy of TOBI, out to a local festival in Knoxville. It’s my current favorite and will definitely be on repeat for spring and summer. It comes in the color I’m wearing below (mint), black, and toast. The back is open, perfect for those hot summer days, and the fabric is light. Plus, I love the detailing across the middle. Dress it up with a heel/wedge or down with a strappy sandal.
