Five on Friday

Over 4th of July weekend my sister was in town and we decided to play tourists and grab lunch and wander around Downtown Knoxville. We stumbled across the Market Square Farmer’s Market – so many vendors! If we weren’t going to be out and about for the afternoon I would have grabbed a few things. The farmer’s market happens every Saturday between May 7, 2016 and November 19, 2016 – so I’m definitely headed back. We had lunch/brunch at Oliver Royale, found a neat back ally with a bunch of great ‘photo-op walls’, checked out a few shops (bliss and bliss home are a must!) and wrapped up our day with treats from Rita’s Italian Ice. Seeing my sister made my day/week/month. I love that we can always pick up right where we left off.

BeautyCon Box Reveal + Review

I’ve spent the past few weeks testing out all of the goodies in BeautyCon’s Summer Essentials Box featuring Kandee Johnson’s favorite summer beauty picks! I’ve been a fan on Kandee’s for a while now, so when I heard she was collaborating with BeautyCon I couldn’t wait to get the box.

Below, I’ve listed a few pictures from unboxing (I had help from my mini — she loves opening packages!) and all of the products with my review. I’m a sucker for good packaging — and BeautyCon nailed it. Very on trend with their color pairing, palm print box sleeve, and grid printed box. AND — I LOVE the material list that has a portrait of Kandee by Maria Björnbom Öberg (aka @bokkei) on the back!

Easy Breezy Summer Toddler Style

Right now, Navy LOVES to dress up like Mom — so every chance we get, we match. Full on #miniandme #twinning style, no shame here. I’ll take full advantage of this until she can’t stand it. And I’ll probably cry the day she doesn’t think its cool.

Since I was asked about where I got all of Navy’s pieces while we were out, here’s Navy’s easy, breezy summer OOTD (outfit of the day).

Five on Friday

I always feel so accomplished when I can actually do a hair style that I find on Pinterest. With it being so hot this past week, I wanted my hair up but was getting tired of my go-to messy top bun. This style was SO easy and I was able to do it in 3 minutes. I recommend doing this hairstyle with day-old hair and some dry shampoo. All you need are 3 small hair ties, a few bobby pins, and some hairspray (optional). I have a feeling I’ll be rocking this hairstyle all summer long!

HotSips by Brilli Baby

One of the main reasons I’ve wanted to start a blog, is because I love to share information. When I come across something good, I just have to tell someone about it. After searching high and low for coffee straws that were actually safe for you to drink hot liquid out of (heat and plastic don’t really make a safe/healthy combo), I stumbled across these! Some people don’t get it, but I have to drink my coffee, hot or iced, out of a straw. Coffee, like wine, tea, and many other foods and drinks, can be rough on your teeth – and I like to keep mine healthy and white.

Mommy and Me Photos

Happy Monday, y’all.

Before we moved to Tennessee and just before Mother’s Day, Navy and I had some ‘Mommy and Me’ photos taken on the beautiful grounds of Eden Gardens State Park. We recently got them back and loved them so much that we just had to share few! I’d love to be able to do this every year and have a sort of time lapse album. Photography is by Tay Gray Photography. If you are ever in the Pensacola/Destin area, you should check her out! She’s sweet, professional, and will make sure you get great photos. This gal knows what she’s doing!

May Favorites

How are we already half way through the year?! I know it’s the 10th of June and this is probably old news to most of you but I’m still having trouble getting over that fact. I mean, I have to start Christmas shopping soon! Anyway — in honor of it being a new month, here are five of my favorite items from last month:

How to add color and personality to a room when you are renting

When we moved to Tennessee, we didn’t have much time to look for somewhere to live. We had 3 days. So, to be safe, we decided to rent until we figured out the area.  We aren’t new to renting, so I know a little about having to make someone else’s house my home without having to fix or undo too much when we leave.

Now that Navy is 3, I’ve wanted to work on her room and make it a fun place that she can go to and enjoy. I wanted color in her room – without having to paint. I gave up on trying to find a painting or wall décor – everything I had in mind ended up being too expensive, too hard to make with a 3 year old running around, or not exactly what I was looking for. As I was perusing the isles of T.J. Maxx, that’s when it hit me! WRAPPING PAPER – in a large frame! There sat this gorgeous floral wrapping paper that was once a stupid amount of money for just wrapping paper, now just $2.99! And I already had the perfect frame for it at home!

Items you need for this super easy DIY:

  • Wrapping paper of your choice (note: other great options for this are wallpaper or fabric)
  • A large/extra large frame
  • Scissors to cut paper
  • Tape to keep paper in place
  • Tools needed to hang frame

Happy Friday!

After my recent Instagram post getting such great feedback, I figured today’s Five on Friday could be a list of five of my favorite Mommy + Me twinning outfits from Navy and I. We LOVE to match or ‘go-together’. I’m thinking of starting a series of matching outfits on the blog — I’ll list out what we are wearing and link what it can or something similar. What do y’all think?!

The Perfect Summer Date Night Maxi

I’m pretty sure I’ve found the perfect summer date night maxi thanks to TOBI. It’s sexy, with a strappy back (adjustable too!) and low-cut plunging front, but still covers just enough. And, if your more of a ‘busty’ gal, no worries, this dress covers you! I usually have a lot of trouble with dresses cut like this (smalls are cut too small up top, and anything larger is just too big in the waist and way too long), so typically stay away from them. You can dress it up with a strappy heel or down with a sandal. I paired mine with a sandal due to the length on me (I’d rather have my maxis a tad too long than too short with a heel), an over-sized floppy hat, and gold accessories.

This dress will definitely be in my suitcase for our upcoming trip back home. I can’t wait to be at the beach and have a much needed date night with the hubby!
