How I’ve Been Whitening My Teeth

Who doesn’t like a bright, white smile?!

For as long as I can remember, I have been a little OCD about keeping my teeth white. And with being an avid coffee lover, I’m always looking for ways to combat its yellow staining tendencies. I’ve tried what feels like just about every type of teeth whitening product out there: the strips, the toothpaste, the mouthwash, the brush pen thing, the trays with the blue light thing – you get the gist. A few months ago I was looking into going to get my teeth professionally whitened at my dentist office but never got around to making the appointment. Then, ironically, SmileBrilliant! reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in trying out their professional teeth whitening system. Smile Brilliant is a national dental lab designed to help their customers receive professional strength teeth whitening from the comfort of their own home. Their lab was specifically created to curb the high cost of cosmetic teeth whitening that is charged at dental offices around the world. So of course I jumped at the opportunity!

Smile Brilliant’s kit comes with everything you need to receive professional strength teeth whitening treatments at home – even teeth impressions! Thought you could only get custom trays done at the dentist office and that it would cost you an arm and a leg?! Nope – not anymore! Smile Brilliant provides easy-to-follow directions and even extra impression material just in case.  Once you have both your upper and lower impressions done, you place them in a pre-paid envelope and send them back to Smile Brilliant’s lab so they can create your custom trays. Your trays will be shipped back within 5 business days of the lab receiving your impressions. What’s the big deal about custom trays? See here.

Once you receive your trays back from the lab, you can start whitening! Their high-intensity whitening gel (dentist-strength 22% Carbamide Peroxide in 3ml syringes) works fast and each syringe will get you 3-4 whitening treatments. I saw results after just one 45 minute treatment! Since my teeth weren’t too stained beforehand, I decided that after 3 treatments (one syringe) that my teeth were as white as they were going to get – so the other syringes I have left can be used for touch up treatments in the future! Smile Brilliant also provides a Desensitizing Gel – and I definitely recommend getting a few syringes whether you have sensitive teeth or not. Use the gel after you whiten to prevent sensitivity, replenish the minerals of your teeth, and help block stains from coming back! If needed, it can be done as a pre-treatment for sensitive teeth for 2 sessions before whitening.

While my before and after photos aren’t all that dramatic, there is a significant difference in person (plus, as I said before, my teeth weren’t badly stained before hand). My teeth were dull before and had a slight yellow tinge to them — especially around the gum lines, where my teeth meet, and my bottom front teeth. Now, they are white and bright! I’ve never seen them this way before. I’m still a bit caught off guard when I flash a smile in the mirror. This coffee lover has found her Holy Grail teeth whitening product! I 100% recommend Smile Brilliant’s professional teeth whitening kit. If you’re interested in trying it out for yourself, here’s everything you need to know:
